== History ==
Bakura, noted for abundant natural resources, saw power shift sharply following a major event in the galaxy. The Empire strengthened its forces on the world to hold those resources, which strained relations with the local population. The growing Rebel Alliance, hoping to weaken Imperial rule and win allies across the galaxy, soon began to challenge the Empire's hold. As the Rebellion and Imperial forces escalated their fighting, the people of Bakura were caught between the two. The period brought many small clashes and political scheming as both sides contended for the planet. In spite of the upheaval, Bakura's people showed notable toughness and flexibility, and they found ways to keep their distinctive culture and customs alive.<ref name="patch" />
