According to the SWRebellion download page, Revolution developed RebEd around 1999–2001, shortly after the game's release. Some members of the team were among the founders of the [[SWRebellion]] community, including Skippy and Sesswanna. The team disappeared around 2000–2001, and the source code was lost, so the editor can no longer be updated.
