The Gladiator Star Destroyer is the name the 25th Anniversary Community Patch gives to the Assault Transport, a Empire capital ship in Star Wars: Rebellion.[1] The ship keeps its original game data, so its figures are the same as on the original page.[2]
In the patch
The patch describes it as the Gladiator-class Star Destroyer and lists its length as 600 meters. The patch names its builder as Kuat Drive Yards.[1]
History
The Gladiator-class began as a patrol vessel, and its purpose shifted toward combat. This Star Destroyer class was smaller than the Imperial-class, yet it performed its assigned duties very effectively, such as escorting, protecting worlds and responding rapidly to crises. It was noted above all for strong weapons and flexibility, and it could operate alone in settings where bigger Star Destroyers were less useful. After the Death Star was destroyed, the Empire increasingly used Gladiator-class ships in its military campaigns, where they helped establish dominance across the Outer Rim territories and fought Rebel forces in important conflicts. Their use showed a strategic Imperial move toward a more varied and flexible fleet.[1]
