Darth Vader is one of the two Imperial major characters in Star Wars: Rebellion, alongside Emperor Palpatine. The in-game encyclopedia calls Vader the Dark Lord of the Sith and the Empire's best-known emblem, clad in black armor. A powerful dark Jedi, he was largely to blame for nearly wiping out the Jedi Knights. Having studied under Obi-Wan Kenobi, he was turned to the dark side and joined the Empire. The entry also describes him as an excellent starfighter pilot and a brilliant military tactician, noted for ruthlessness; few who fail him live long enough to regret it. The Alliance had hoped he died when the Death Star was destroyed, but he has lately come back at the head of one of the Empire's newest ships, a Super Star Destroyer.[1]
In the game
Darth Vader can serve as an admiral, a general or a commander. The game data marks Darth Vader as unable to betray the Empire. It also lists Darth Vader as a Jedi trainer. The infobox values come from the game data.[2] The 25th Anniversary Community Patch does not change them.[3]
The Empire always starts the game with Darth Vader.[4] To win, the Alliance player must capture and hold both the Emperor and Vader, along with the Imperial headquarters at Coruscant.[5]
Vader is strong in the Force from the beginning: he can find Imperial characters with Force potential right away, while Luke Skywalker has to grow stronger before he can do the same for the Alliance.[6] Once Luke has learned his heritage, Vader may try to abduct him and bring him before the Emperor, which starts the "Final Battle".[7]
In the 25th Anniversary Community Patch

The 25th Anniversary Community Patch replaces this entry's original picture with a new one. The two pictures differ; the original is shown at the top of the page.[8]
