The Ship Design Research mission is one of three research and development missions in Star Wars: Rebellion.[1] The character contributes to developing new ships for the sending side.[2]
Requirements
The target is a friendly system with a shipyard, and the character must have ship design research ability.[2][3] A character's status screen shows which of the three research areas, if any, the character can work in.[1]
Result
Results depend on the character's attributes.[2] The manual says improved ship design strengthens fleets, that every facility adds a small amount to its own research area, and that a character on the mission speeds results considerably. When a new technology arrives, the message droid announces it and it can be used immediately.[4] The character asks whether to continue and, if allowed, keeps going until all possible discoveries are made.[5]

The encyclopedia shows one picture for each side, and the 25th Anniversary Community Patch replaces some of them with new ones.[6]
