Battle options is a screen that can be opened at any time during the Tactical game of Star Wars: Rebellion through the Battle Options button on the command panel.[1]
Options
- Withdraw from Battle orders the fleet to stop fighting and try to leave the system, after a confirmation dialog. It is offered only when at least one ship has a hyperdrive and a neutral or friendly system exists to retreat to. Enemy ships with tractor beams, or very fast ones, may still stop the retreat, and an enemy ship that can generate a gravity well prevents withdrawal.[1]
- Most Imperial fighters can withdraw only by docking aboard a capital ship, and they are stuck if docking space runs short. The manual names TIE fighters as the exception, because they have their own hyperdrive.[2]
- Observe Battle / Take Command hands control of the battle to the computer while the player watches, and a second click takes control back.[2]
- Simulate Battle quits the tactical game and has the strategic game calculate the result abstractly from the point where the tactical fight stopped.[2]
- Close closes the panel.[2]
- Game Options opens the Game Options screen. Its tactical-game options cannot be changed from here; the manual says they are available only when the screen is reached from the strategic Command Center or the Shuttle Cockpit.[2]
After the battle
A battle lasts until one side has lost all its capital ships and fighters, or one side withdraws. The Battle Results window then appears, even when the player had the game simulate the battle.[2] The Alliance Forces and Imperial Forces buttons give each side's detailed losses and casualties, with tabs for capital ships, fighters, troops and personnel. A column lists ships still operational, with burn marks showing those that are damaged. Troops and personnel aboard a destroyed ship risk injury, capture or death.[2][3] The Go Directly To button opens a screen from which the player can choose the System window for the battle location, or the Fleet window of the player's fleet unless it was destroyed.[2] See also Damaged ships.
