In Star Wars: Rebellion, missions are the tasks that characters and special forces carry out on star systems, from winning a planet over by diplomacy to kidnapping enemy leaders.[1]
Mission types
The LucasArts tips page lists these character missions:[1]
- Diplomacy – raise a system's loyalty to your side.
- Espionage – gather information about a system.
- Incite Uprising and Subdue Uprising – start or end a revolt on a planet.
- Abduction – capture an enemy character.
- Assassination – Empire characters only.
- Sabotage – damage enemy facilities and defenses; Death Star Sabotage is Alliance only.
- Recruitment – bring new characters into play. On the Alliance side only Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, Han Solo and Mon Mothma can recruit; on the Empire side, Darth Vader and the Emperor.
- Research – ship, troop and facility research, which unlocks new designs.
- Jedi Training – train a Force-sensitive character.
- Reconnaissance – listed, but cannot be performed by characters.
What decides success
Each mission relies on particular character ratings:[1]
| Mission | Rating used |
|---|---|
| Diplomacy | Diplomacy, minus the planet's loyalty to the other side |
| Sabotage | Average of combat and espionage |
| Incite Uprising, Subdue Uprising, Recruitment | Leadership |
| Abduction, Assassination | Combat |
A mission can end as Failed (the team's ratings were too low) or Foiled (enemy defenders stopped it). Extra characters can be sent along as decoys from the Create Mission window, to draw defenders away from the main team.[1]
Special forces
Special forces units can also be sent on missions:[1]
- Alliance: Longprobes, Bothans, Guerillas, Infiltrators.
- Empire: Probe Droids, Espionage Droids, Imperial Commandos, Noghri Death Commandos.
Jedi training
Force-sensitive characters grow in Force rank through training. The LucasArts tips page gives these hidden thresholds: Novice 10+, Trainee 20+, Jedi Student 80+, Jedi Knight 100+, Jedi Master 120+. Luke must be a Jedi Knight before he can train others. Darth Vader detects Force users immediately; Luke only once he is a Jedi Student.[1] A 2001 SWRebellion FAQ about editing gives slightly different cut-offs for the same ranks.[2]
Injuries
Injured characters cannot take on missions. A minor character who is injured has a 25% chance of dying.[1]
