Building facilities is the process by which a player adds mines, refineries, production sites and defenses to a system in Star Wars: Rebellion. Facilities do not appear on their own: a Construction Yard on a system the player controls must build them.[1][2]

Requirements

A system can receive a facility only if it has free energy, shown in the Sector window by blue and white squares, with every new facility converting a blue square to white. A mine also needs raw materials, shown as red squares, and finished mines appear as yellow squares.[3] The manual says the total number of energy slots on a system cannot be changed.[4] Building also costs refined materials and, except for mines and refineries, maintenance capacity.[5]

Facility types

The manual divides facilities into manufacturing and production facilities and defensive facilities.[2] The production list is:[2]

Advanced facilities become available only when Research and development produces the technology.[2] Defensive facilities, which the manual describes as shields and batteries, are built by a construction yard on a system the player controls.[6]

Giving the order

A build order is given by right-clicking the Facilities Under Construction area in a system's Manufacturing and Production window and choosing Build, which opens the Build Selection window.[2] The window can be set to build more than one facility, and units are built one after another, each announced when it is deployed. The estimated days to completion are a best case: building slows without enough refined materials and is suspended during a blockade or an uprising.[3]

The agent droid offers a shortcut. Its Build Facilities option asks for a target system and then has the nearest available construction yard do the work.[7][1] The manual notes that ordering the yard directly gives more control, and that the yard's location matters because facilities take longer to reach distant systems, and a very long time to reach another sector.[1]

Stopping, destination and status

  • Stop: a right-click choice that halts construction and returns the maintenance the project was using. Starting a new project also cancels the current one.[3]
  • Destination: lets a yard build onto any system the player controls, provided that system has the energy (and raw materials for a mine).[3] The tutorial advises setting the destination before starting to build.[1]
  • Status: opens the Facilities Under Construction window, which gives the day on which construction will finish.[8]
  • Reserve: keeps the agent's Manage Production option from using that yard for mines and refineries.[8][9]

Tabs and scrapping

Besides the default Manufacturing tab, the Manufacturing and Production window has tabs for the production facilities on the system; a grayed-out tab means there are none of that type. Right-clicking a unit gives access to its Encyclopedia entry and Status, which reports the expected arrival or deployment date for a unit still under construction or traveling.[3]

A facility can be scrapped through the right-click menu on its tab. Scrapping returns the maintenance and part of the refined materials, and frees energy on the system. The manual's examples are scrapping a mine to make room for a construction yard, or replacing a training facility with an advanced one.[8]

A new facility on an unpopulated system gives it a population that is entirely loyal to the player's side.[10]
