History

The Galactic Empire and the Rebellion each took a growing interest in Chardaan. The Empire aimed to impose its authority and crush dissent, whereas the Rebellion sought a presence there to resist Imperial oppression. The planet turned into a theater of political and military contest, marked by many skirmishes plus secret operations on the surface. Its population divided in the turmoil, part supporting the Empire and part the Rebellion. Local resistance cells arose from the unrest, escalating tensions still more. The prolonged struggle deeply affected the society and infrastructure of Chardaan and left a lasting legacy for its inhabitants.^[1]
