Sector
A sector is a group of 10 planetary systems and the basic regional division of the galaxy in Star Wars: Rebellion.[1] A standard galaxy has 10 sectors, a large one 15 and a huge one 20 (see Galaxy size).[2] The individual sectors are listed at Sectors, with a page for each, such as the Sumitra sector.
Core and Rim
The inner sectors form the Galactic Core, where systems are inhabited and have established infrastructure, and most begin with at least one mine and refinery. The Rim systems are unexplored at the start, and most are uninhabited.[1][3][4] In the Core, changes in control and popular support are always up to date, while in the Rim a change shows only when a fleet or mission is sent to investigate.[4]
The Sector window
Clicking a sector on the Galactic Information Display opens its Sector window, and the sector's name appears as the cursor passes over it.[5][6] The window shows every system in the sector, colored by controlling side, with an overview of each system's resources and popular support below it and icons around it that open more detailed windows.[4] The icons include Manufacturing and Production at the upper left, System Defenses at the lower left and Fleets on the right.[7] Under each system are readouts for resources and a loyalty bar.[8] The window also shows how many raw materials and energy spaces are available and how many mines exist.[9]
A Sector window cannot be moved or minimized, only closed or flipped across to the opposite screen edge, and the interface allows two open at a time.[10]
For opposing and neutral systems at the start of a game, the window can be trusted on resources, popular support and production facilities in Core systems only. What it shows about defenses, troops, personnel and ships may well be wrong or partial, and later changes are not reported as they happen.[4]
Sectors and play
- Travel between sectors takes much longer than travel within one, for characters and units and in hyperspace journeys.[11][12]
- A shift of control caused by popular support in one system can pull others in the same sector the same way, and abandoning a system can cost support across the sector.[13]
- A side that loses a battle loses popular support throughout the sector where it took place.[14]
- The System Finder lists systems under tabs (including Rebel, Imperial, Independent and Unexplored), and its Display button opens the Sector window of the chosen system.[15][16]
