The Personnel Finder is a control in Star Wars: Rebellion for locating the player's characters and Special Forces, which the manual calls collectively personnel.[1]

Using the finder

The Personnel Finder is a button below the Galactic Information Display. Clicking it opens a dialog for tracking down a named character or Special Forces unit.[2][3] The player can type a name or scroll the list and pick one. Tabs switch between Alliance personnel and Imperial personnel, and the tab for the player's own side is the default.[3][4]

The Display button, or a double-click on a name, opens the window for the character's current location. This is whichever System window currently shows the character, such as the defenses, fleet or mission view. If the player has no information about an opposing character's location, no window appears.[3][5] A SpecForces button shows all of the player's Special Forces and where they are, again with a Display button.[5] The Close button leaves the finder without opening a window.[5]

The manual notes that some characters cannot be located: Luke while at Dagobah, and Han Solo, Luke, Leia and Chewbacca while at Jabba's palace.[1]

Other ways to find personnel

The Galactic Information Display can show where personnel are. Active Personnel shows those on missions or in command, and Idle Personnel shows those available for assignments.[5]

Examining personnel

For details on a character, the manual points to the Galactic Encyclopedia and to the Status window. To examine one, the player opens the System Defenses window of the system where the character is, by double-clicking the Defenses icon in the Sector window, then right-clicks the character's icon. Choosing Encyclopedia gives general background, while Status gives more precise and up-to-date details.[5]
