LucasArts
LucasArts is the company whose product site and in-game startup screen present Star Wars: Rebellion.[1][2] The product site says the game was developed together with Coolhand Interactive.[1] The manual names LucasArts in its install folder, shortcut and Start menu entries and in its support section.[3][4]
Publisher and developer
LucasArts' product site for the game, as archived on 8 December 2004, calls Star Wars: Rebellion LucasArts' first Star Wars grand strategy game.[5] Its overview page says the game was developed in conjunction with Coolhand Interactive of Palo Alto, California.[1] The game's startup sequence shows the LucasArts logo and the Coolhand Interactive logo before the historical background appears.[2]
A 2003 review on the SWRebellion site lists the game as published by "LEC" and developed by Coolhand, and describes it as that publisher's first real-time strategy game, released in 1998.[6] The review does not expand the abbreviation "LEC".
The product site notes that the game was marketed in the United Kingdom under the name Star Wars: Supremacy.[5]
LucasArts in the game and its documentation
The manual refers to LucasArts in several places:
- The default installation directory is a Star Wars Rebellion folder inside a LucasArts folder, and the optional shortcuts created by setup include one for the LucasArts web page. The default Start menu folder is named for LucasArts and the game.[3]
- For help with a direct serial connection, the manual points to the troubleshooting guide and the technical support section of the LucasArts web site.[4]
- In the multiplayer chapter, the manual names the Rebel HQ web page as a source of news about the game and other LucasArts multiplayer games, with links to the LucasArts section of the Internet Gaming Zone.[7]
Later references
The archived 2004 product pages describe the game as available in stores and carry a 2003 notice that LucasArts and its logos are trademarks of Lucasfilm Ltd., with a copyright line for Lucasfilm Entertainment Company Ltd. or Lucasfilm Ltd.[8] Early community pages of the swrebellion.net site (captures of 2000 and 2001) carry a footer stating that the game is copyright LucasArts, and the Links page also lists the LucasArts Star Wars: Rebellion site among other Rebellion sites.[9]
