A total conversion (TC) for Star Wars: Rebellion is a set of changes, made with RebEd, that turns the game into a different scenario. The 2001 SWRebellion FAQ notes that, because RebEd can only replace existing units, Rebellion TCs are really closer to "partial conversions".[1]

How a TC is made

A TC combines many RebEd cards with picture changes made through DLLEntries.txt. RebEd's Save Settings option stores all of these changes in a single .REB file, which players load with Load Settings.[2] When saving, RebEd asks for a description, the author's name, which side the player should take, and a folder.[1] Each TC needs its own DLLEntries.txt for its pictures to load correctly.[2]

In multiplayer, both players must load the same settings, or the game is likely to crash.[1]

TCs hosted by SWRebellion (2001)

In June 2001 the SWRebellion TCs page hosted these conversions:[3]

TC Author
Sith Uprising EW
Clone Wars EW
Episode I Logray
Shattered Void Void ZoSo
Special Edition John Stone
Warlords Eville Jedi

The same page linked to TCs hosted elsewhere: Wing Commander, Aftermath, Rogue Squadron, The Cantina Cloud and The Return of Jerec.[3]

A 2000 links page also lists TC-related sites, including Final Conflict (Brandoise), Rebellion SE (John Stone), Realm of the Void (Void ZoSo), Pride of Coruscant (Fleet Admiral Karrde) and Nar Shaddaa (NemesiS).[4]

Early history

TCs date back to the game's first year. In April 1999 the starwarsrebellion.com news page reported that the site's Warlords TC, among other exclusive files, had been lost when the site's original host disappeared, and a member announced work on a Rogue Squadron TC.[5] A later version of Warlords by Eville Jedi was hosted in 2001.[3]
