DLLEntries.txt

From SWRebellion Wiki

DLLEntries.txt is a text file used by RebEd that records where pictures and other resources are stored inside the DLL files of Star Wars: Rebellion. With it, RebEd can replace images that are not part of a unit's card.[1]

How it works

Rebellion stores many of its pictures inside its DLLs, each identified by DLL and resource number. These can be located with the Resource Explorer tool, and the DLL entries list in RebEd records them.[2] RebEd's generic DLL Entries Editor is also used to change game events, such as the Han Solo "Bounty Missed" event, by loading a new picture and sound and editing the text.[3]

According to the 2003 SWRebellion page, RebEd only seemed to process bitmaps correctly.[1]

Total conversions

Each total conversion needs its own DLLEntries.txt for its picture changes to load correctly.[1] When RebEd shows a "latest version" warning while loading a total conversion, the cause is usually a missing or wrong DLLEntries.txt, and the 2001 FAQ advises asking the conversion's author for the right file.[2]

Downloads

In 2001 the SWRebellion file archive offered dllentries.zip (dated 5 August 1999), Zeblork's combined DLLEntries.TXT, together with Resource Explorer (resxplorer.exe), "a DLL dig-out program".[4]
