Alliance headquarters
Alliance headquarters is the base system of the Rebel Alliance in Star Wars: Rebellion. It begins every game completely loyal to the Alliance and at a random location, and the Galactic Empire wins in part by finding and destroying it.[1][2][3]
Starting position
The headquarters starts on a randomly chosen system on the Galactic Rim. An Alliance player sees it on the Galactic Information Display as a system ringed by a white star, and it is visible in the Sector window, while the Empire does not know where it is.[3][4] The tutorial's example places it at Vjun in the Moddell sector, but the manual states that its location differs in each game.[5] Mon Mothma starts on the headquarters system.[6][7]
Moving the headquarters
The Imperial headquarters at Coruscant is fixed, but this one can relocate. The player drags its icon onto another system, or right-clicks it, chooses Move and picks the destination. Confirmed Move first shows the transit time.[8] The manual advises preparing a well-defended new site and bringing part of the old site's defending troops, fighters and personnel.[8] A move costs the Alliance a little popular support on the system that was left behind.[9]
Defense and discovery
The manual calls it critical that the headquarters be well defended, since the Empire is almost certain to attack once it finds the site. Repeated enemy Espionage and Sabotage missions against it, reported by the player's agents, suggest that the Empire has discovered it.[4] The manual also advises defending the key characters the opponent needs to capture.[8]
Loss
An Alliance player who loses the headquarters suffers a severe drop in popular support. The manual describes this as affecting the sector in one passage and the entire galaxy in another.[9][8] Nothing can be done afterward, because a lost headquarters is destroyed.[8]
The Empire destroys it either by bombarding the headquarters and then taking the system by assault, or by destroying the system with the Death Star. The manual recommends first finding it with Reconnaissance missions, following up with Espionage missions, and then blockading the system.[10] Destroying it is the Empire's headquarters objective in both the standard and the headquarters-only forms of Victory conditions.[1][11]
