Espionage mission
The Espionage mission is a mission in Star Wars: Rebellion that gathers information about a system, its forces and its personnel.[1]
Targets and participants
The in-game encyclopedia gives enemy or neutral systems as targets, while the manual lists any explored system.[1][2] Characters and special forces may go on it. It is the only mission Bothan Spies can perform.[3] The manual names Han Solo as a character better suited to leading one than to diplomacy.[4]
Skill and result
Success rests on the espionage ratings of the team.[1] After a successful mission to an enemy or neutral system, what the Manufacturing and Production window and the System Defense window display for it is accurate. This is a snapshot that can change later. Sent to a system the player already controls, the mission helps expose enemy missions headed there and enemy personnel on blockading fleets.[2] The manual compares it with reports from informants, which are often incomplete.[5]
Strategy notes in the manual
To locate the Alliance headquarters, the manual suggests first scouting unexplored systems with Reconnaissance, then sending repeated Espionage missions.[6]

The encyclopedia shows one picture for each side, and the 25th Anniversary Community Patch replaces some of them with new ones.[7]
