Building troops

From SWRebellion Wiki

Building troops is how a side trains trooper regiments in Star Wars: Rebellion. Training facilities produce troops in much the same way that construction yards produce facilities.[1]

Ordering troops

At a system with a Training Facility, the player right-clicks the Troops in Training section of its Manufacturing and Production window to reach the Build Selection window. Some of the units offered there are Special forces rather than troops.[1]

The agent droid offers another route. Choosing Build Troops from its menu turns the cursor into cross hairs; after a destination system is picked, and if a training facility there is idle, the Build Selection menu appears. The agent then has the nearest available training facility build the chosen regiment.[2]

Build menu

The Build Selection menu for training facilities is the same as for construction yards and orbital shipyards. Besides Build, it has:[1]

  • Stop halts training of the current regiment.[1]
  • Destination sets where the regiment goes.[1]
  • Encyclopedia shows the troop entry only while something is being built, and the planet entry when the facility is idle.[1]
  • Status shows how the current training project is going and when it will finish.[2]
  • Reserved keeps the agent's automated Manage Garrison function from using that facility, though the agent can still use it for Build Troops.[2]

Troop types

Each regiment type has an attack strength, a bombardment defense and a defense strength. According to the manual, stronger regiments usually need more build time and upkeep, and some cannot be built until research and development delivers them.[2][3] The regiments are listed under Troops. Trained regiments can be carried by fleets with space for them.[4]

Manage Garrisons

Selecting Manage Garrisons from the agent droid's menu has the agent satisfy garrison needs by constructing new regiments rather than relocating existing ones. It builds for systems in uprising first, then puts at least one regiment on each controlled system, adding more where needed. It tries to provide a stronger defense on systems with manufacturing facilities, and it does not remove excess troops.[1]
