History

Pakuuni remains a refuge for pirates, smugglers, and other lawbreakers trying to hide from the galaxy's great powers. Its distant position and hostile environment gave perfect cover to anyone wanting to stay beyond the Empire's reach. Though lawless, the place saw some residents adapt to the rough conditions and put together improvised settlements. Both the Empire and the Rebel Alliance now and then raided Pakuuni to disrupt crime and gather useful intelligence. Still, galactic politics barely touched it, and its underworld flourished in the disorder that followed the destruction of the Death Star.^[1]
