Rebellion 2

From SWRebellion Wiki

Star Wars: Rebellion 2 is a community-developed recreation of Star Wars: Rebellion, rebuilt in the Unity engine for Windows, Mac and Linux. Its first public alpha was announced on swrebellion.net on 16 October 2026 by developer DavidAdas.[1]

Alpha release

According to the announcement, the alpha includes:[1]

  • a largely complete campaign, playable from beginning to end;
  • numerous quality-of-life improvements;
  • upscaled cutscenes and improved visuals;
  • support for 4K displays.

The 3D tactical combat mode and multiplayer were not yet available and were planned for later releases. The announcement warns that, as an early alpha, it has bugs and unfinished features.[1]

Installing

Players must own Star Wars: Rebellion or Star Wars: Empire at War – Gold Pack on Steam or GOG. The launcher checks ownership before it downloads the game content. Installers and per-platform instructions are on the project's installer page on GitHub.[1][2]

Feedback

Bug reports and feature requests are filed on the project's GitHub issue tracker (a GitHub account is required), or posted in the #dev-rebellion2 channel of the SWRebellion Discord.[1][3]

Earlier "Rebellion 2" campaign

The idea of a sequel is much older. In September 2001 the swrebellion.net front page carried a "Support the Rebellion 2 movement!" banner linking to a Rebellion 2 page; that page's content was not preserved.[4]
